What is Ecotourism & Conservation Society of Sikkim?
ECOSS is a group of like-minded people working to accomplish a mission. Founded in January 2001, it is a registered body and recognized by the Government of Sikkim as an independent, nonpolitical, not for profit Non-Governmental Organization. ECOSS has dedicated members who believe in the concept of self reliance and have a mandate towards achieving the goals of sustainable development.
ECOSS is dedicated to promoting ecotourism and conservation for the benefit of people at all levels of Sikkimese society. It seeks to combine the strengths of rural communities with the experiences of national and international groups who are leaders in the field of ecotourism.
The mission of ECOSS is to define the concept of ecotourism in the context of the state of Sikkim. It believes that ecotourism and conservation cannot exist without each other; these go hand in hand.
